Koslich Malis Nastana - a book for Goa

Society today, is in dire need of honest and sincere writers as in this world of mass communication, a writer encouraging falsehoods can easily mislead the masses.

Daniel F. de Souza is one such writer who has made an impact with his writings, in both English as well as Roman script Konkani. At the event of his book release, Giovanni Karl Vaz, Chairman of the Goa Rehabilitation Board, and MLA of Mormugao expressed his happiness that de Souza has finally come out with a book on his writings, with will prove to be beneficial to society. "There is a need to preserve language and encourage more writers in Konkani," he added. The said book titled, Koslich Malis Nastana is in Roman script Konkani and was recently released at Hotel La Paz Gardens, Vasco.

Speaking about the pressures and power games, Guest of Honour Elvis Gomes, Commissioner, City Corporation of Panjim said, "at times it is difficult to achieve what one is set out to do. It is at this juncture that positive journalism and responsible writers make a difference to society at large."

The book contains a compilation of 25 selected contemplative articles on various issues. The book has a foreword written by Fr. Nascimento J. Mascarenhas, a noted historian and research writer, of the Archdiocese of Goa.

Addressing the gathering, de Souza said, "This effort on my part in keeping the language alive is a small drop in the vast ocean of Konkani literature. We have to preserve our language, for if the language is lost, our identity is lost too." He later declared that he is working on a book of Konkani poems and couplets which he has plans to publish in both the scripts.

Jose Salvadore Fernandes, a noted Konkani writer, journalist, and lecturer in Konkani at Fr. Agnel college, Pilar, reviewed the book to the gathering comprising of writers and other prominent citizens.
