A devotional Music Recital of Bhajans and Kritis in Hindustani and Carnatic forms was performed by Manasi and Monisha, daughters of Mahadevan and Meenakshi at Sateri Temple-Chicalem, Santoshi Matha Temple-New Vaddem, Ayyappa Mandir-Mangoor and Vittal Rhakhumai Temple-Shanti Nagar.
They girls started the concert with the Ganesh Vandana and showed their proficiency in performing the Bhajans and complementing each other. The Bhajans included those of maestros such as Anup Jalota, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, etc. They gave the same effect while rendering the Carnatic Kritis and sang famous Kritis like Kaliyuga Varanan, etc.
They were accompanied by Ramanathan on the flute, Vasudev Phadte on the harmonium and Shankar Sawant on the tabla.
The sisters are disciples of renowned Hindustani Vocalist Pandita Shubhada Paradkar and are also learning the Harmonium. Having been introduced to music from the age of 8 years, both the sisters have won many accolades at various events conducted at District, State and National level and have performed in similar concerts at Mumbai and Chennai. Both of them are very keen on making their career in music and their role models include Sunidhi Chauhan, Shankar Mahadevan, Lata Mangueshkar, Hariharan and most importantly, their Guruji.
